The DTTLab PDF Print E-mail
The DTTLab is an open laboratory on digital terrestrial TV and data transport technology on DVB systems and its goal is to supply a reference model for the actors who want to produce interactive services production for digital TV.
The laboratory is promoted by the CSP – Innovazione nelle ICT and by the Information Technology Department of the University of Turin.

interactive televisionAn experience that confirms the strong predisposition for the research and experimentation of innovative technologies and services, already demonstrated during 2004 when the Project Plan was created by the partnership between CSP, Sun Microsystems and Telecom Italia.

Equipped with the indispensable HW and SW for the design, development, testing and validation of DTT systems, the laboratory experiments innovative digital terrestrial services and more generally explores the new possibilities offered by the digital television standards and by their integration with other information and telematic technologies.

The DTTlab also offers its skills and instruments to those who want to avail of the opportunity to gain know-how and test their own applications in a real demonstration environment.
DTTLab is the centre of a project aimed to realise a complete “demonstrator” with a platform for interactive digital television services based on DVB-T, DVB-MHP standards and for the IP transfer over DVB/T.

The “Demonstrator” faithfully follows the reference model used by DTTLab for the description of a DTT system. On the basis of this approach it will be possible to perform specific activities on each of the system components in production and the interaction between them. The demonstrator will make it possible to assess the feasibility of the production of services for the end user and to simulate the production process involving all the important components in the model.
It will also be the final validation platform before the service obtained is introduced in a real broadcast.
